When it comes to bass, the thought rushes to the sea or the mouth of the river, but few associate it in the river, although its habit of returning to the course is almost a commonplace.
I have dedicated to this fish from the 80's when I had my first catch random undermining chub. Needless to say, the discovery of this beautiful star has polarized my attention immediately. Start to go over the river in early June and ends at the end of October or early November, but when I say go on the Tyrrhenian rivers I frequent, I mean, even at 12/14 25 km from the mouth. It seems impossible, but the bass makes such migrations in the river just to snare its prey, and not for purposes of reproduction as the cheppia.
Evolution but I want to emphasize, is to fish them in broad daylight and light equipment, which is a challenge in the challenge!
We know that the bass love to hunt at night or in conditions of deep water after a full hour and preferably in the height of the tide.
In reality, at least in autumn (from September onwards) with the shortening of days, you can find the peak of the tide in the late afternoon, but in full light, and find that the bass in full attack surface with water as clear as in the picture.
The best time is one that runs from one hour before the tide until an hour later, or with the approach of calasole, say from 18.30 to sunset.
When I talked to launch light, I mean what you practice with this equipment: rod Mitchell Elite Spin 6 '(1.98 m) that runs from 3 to 8 grams of high modulus carbon and T30 SIC guides, combined Mitchell in May 2000 the reel spooled with Berkley Pro Crystal Competition 0074, with tensile strength greater than 5 kg.
eslusivamente Fishing on the surface using the Berkley Ripple Sad to 7 cm. Pulse or Shad 6 cm. in different colors, baited with a hook straight kind Aberdeen and adding a lead projectile mounted upside down to get a warm effect popper, or spiombati if the distance to cover is not excessive, connects them through a "knotless" without a terminal fluorocarbon, Top Water fishing because there is no danger of abrasion.
The technique is very simple: Locate the battens of a scrape or a change to the next level of the river, throwing me sideways I position my bait across, so that current flow through the skipping and skating in full size, just like a little fish crazy jumps out of the water under the threat of the predator. You get spectacular bites, even when the prey are of modest size as those photographed, but once again I want to reiterate that it is important not only achieve the result but how you arrive!
I know that the cutting edges higher in hunt come late at night, but river fishing is permitted one hour before sunrise and one hour after sunset, sea bass also lead the attack, although smaller in size in broad daylight is worth all the effort!
ultimately the practice of catch and release, it is logically extended to me even to this predator, regardless of its size. A nice photo and go!
